Letterboxing

This is a Letterbox.  It's been around for centuries.  People leave notes for people to find.  This particular one was soaking wet.  The Letterbox should be weather proof.  Obviously, this one wasn't.  Inside was a notebook and pen.  I guess I was supposed to write something in the notebook and put it back.  Sometimes they ask for your name and date and where you are from.  But this one was so sopping wet that I didn't want to touch it.

This is a precursor to geocaching.  In geocaching the coordinates of the next geocache are in the container and you use a GPS to find it.

It is a fun thing to do.  We found this today, while hiking.
