Happy New Year

The Bellman's Good-Morrow

From sluggish sleep and slumber
     good Christians all arise
for Christ his sake I pray you
     lift up your drowsy eyes
The night of shame and sorrow
     is parting clean away
God give you all good morrow
     and send you happy day

from all the rage of wickedness
     look that you strip you quite
in garments of true godliness
     see that your selves be dight
Shake off all shame and sorrow
     which doth your souls destroy
God give you all good morrow
     and send you happy day

And being thus attired
     you may in peace proceed
Unto the heavenly table
     of Christ our lord indeed
Where neither same nor sorrow
     shall you in aught annoy
God give you all good morrow
     and send you happy day

Then looke your lamps be ready
     and that with oil of store
to wait upon the bridegroom
     even at his Chamber door
Where neither shame nor sorrow
     shall you in aught annoy
God give you all good morrow
     and send you happy day

Then shall you rest in blessedness
     which never shall have end
enjoying Christ his presence
     our sweet and surest friend
where neither shame nor sorro
     shall you in aught annoy
God give you all good morrow:
    and send you happy day

Thus with my bell, and lantern
     I bid you all farewell
and keep in your remembrance
     the sounding of my bell
lest that with sin and sorrow
     you do yourselves destroy
God give you all good morrow
     & send you happy joy.                                             Anonymous, 16th Century

New Day

Te Deum,

You are my most Beloved: I praise You;
You are God: I acclaim You;
You are my eternal Father:
Everyone and thing worships You.

I thank You for my  waking up clear headed.
I thank You for being pain free.
I thank You for my friend, Omega.
I thank You for life.

To You all angels sing:
Holy, holy Lord God of power and might:
Everywhere is Your glory,
Heaven and Earth are full of Your wonder.

You, Christ, are the king of glory,
the eternal Son of the Father.

You, Holy Spirit guide the world,
And opened my mind and heart.

I praise You;
I love You;
I dedicate my life to You;
I thank You.

Anton Bruckner's Te Deum Laudamus

Pope Benedict XVI praised Anton Bruckner's 9th Symphony and his "Te Deum," interpreted by the Bavarian State Orchestra and the Audi Youth Choir Academy, conducted by Kent Nagano and Martin Steidler, after attending a concert.

B16 continued praising Anton Bruckner: "Bruckner asked this beloved God to let him enter his mystery, ...to let him praise the Lord in heaven as he had on earth with his music. 'Te Deum laudamus, Te Dominum confitemur'; this great work we have just heard--written at one sitting then reworked over 15 years as if reconsidering how better to thank and praise God -- sums up the faith of this great musician."

The Pope also said that this music gives people hope and brings light and faith into our own lives. This video is not the interpretation of Anton Bruckner that the Pope was listening to. But it's as close as I could find on You Tube. There was no description just the title Anton Bruckner Barenboim 1 Te Deum.

Not Ship-Shape

  The Woman in Cabin 10 b y Ruth Ware is called a psychological thriller.  To me it means that the protagonist, Lauren, will drive you crazy...
