Our Lady of Succour

Start praying for the victims of hurricaine Melissa.   https://www.foxweather.com/weather-news/hurricane-melissa-jamaica-haiti-cuba-dominican-republic-caribbean-atlantic#google_vignette

Our Lady of Prompt Succor,
ever Virgin Mother of Jesus Christ our Lord and God,
you are most powerful against the enemy of our salvation. The divine promise of a Redeemer was announced right after the sin of our first parents; and you, through your Divine Son, crushed the serpent’s head.

Hasten, then, to our help and deliver us from the deceits of Satan. Intercede for us with Jesus that we may always accept God’s graces and be found faithful to Him in our particular states of life.

As you once saved our beloved city from ravaging flames and our country from an invading army, have pity on us and obtain for us protection from hurricanes and all other disasters.

(Silent pause for individual petitions.)

Assist us in the many trials which beset our path through life. Watch over the Church and the Pope as they uphold with total fidelity the purity of faith and morals against unremitting opposition.

Be to us truly Our Lady of Prompt Succor now and especially at the hour of our death, that we may gain everlasting life through the merits of Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us!

Amen.

The Island in the Valley of the Shadow of Death

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for You are with me...  Psalm 23: 4

God will be with the people of Haiti; I hope they know it and take comfort in it.  They haven't recovered from the earthquake in 2010 and now this one is worse!  Their president, Jovenel Moise, was recently assassinated.    The Haitian government hasn't started vaccinating the people.  They are one of the poorest nations in the world.  And now, a tropical storm is threatening the island.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor help the people of Haiti.  On this day of your Assumption into heaven celebrate by delivering the little island of Haiti into the safety and comfort of Our Father in heaven.  Cast out all the evil in Haiti and have mercy on the people.  Intercede for the Haitians and may they accept God's graces and be faithful to Him. We ask this through the merits of Jesus Christ, Our Savior, Our Redeemer, and Lord. Amen.

Prayers to Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Again.

As flood-weary towns near St. Louis began to regroup from record high water, Mississippi River communities farther south braced for the peak of flooding that has already damaged hundreds of homes and businesses and killed nearly two dozen people.  Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 the flood level was 7 1/2 feet.
 It's certainly time to pray.
Prayer for Protection against Storms and Hurricanes
Our Father in Heaven through the intercession of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, spare us during this Hurricane season from all harm.  Protect us and our homes from all disasters of nature.  Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
Prayer to Avert Storms and Hurricanes
Father, all the elements of nature obey your command.  Calm the storms and hurricanes that threaten us and turn our fear of your power into praise of your goodness.  Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.  Amen.

Hurricanes Blowing down the Fourth of July

Hurricane Arthur is messing up my weekend.  Company planning to visit have cancelled out.  We bought a lot of food that I worry about spoilage if the electricity goes out.  Last night Boston Pop's on the Esplanade rescheduled their concert to last night, and started the fireworks before the rain came and then told the crowd to "get home!"  The town of Falmouth, where my family and I always go to see the fireworks have rescheduled to Sunday.

There's someone who every morning visits my blog from New Orleans, LA.  She/he prays the prayer to Our Lady of Prompt Succour.  And this morning I read about another intercessor for protection against hurricanes, "The Hurricane Lady."  This a statue the community has had for centuries and believe is the reason why they are protected from hurricanes.

I calling on the two of them to keep this hurricane away from Cape Cod.  Push it out to sea.

Human Dignity

It just dawned on me that God created me for Himself.  In Genesis 1: 1-31, we see God made everything for mankind.  I'm in awe to reali...
