Pray Hail Mary for the Pope

Please pray for the health and protection of our Pope Francis.... just a simple Hail Mary (read below).  Especially now that ISIS has targeted the Vatican and plans to assassinate the Pope!  Please read all below and forward to friends... the goal is ten million Hail Marys for our Pope!!

POPE FRANCIS MAKES A REQUEST

Weep not for what you have lost, fight for what you have.
Weep not for what is dead, fight for what was born in you.
Weep not for the one who abandoned you, fight for who is with you.
Weep not for those who hate you, fight for those who want you.
Weep not for your past, fight for your present struggle.
Weep not for your suffering, fight for your happiness.
With things that are happening to us, we begin to learn that nothing is impossible to solve, just move forward.

THE HOLY FATHER MAKES A REQUEST FOR PRAYERS THAT GOD PROTECTS HIM AND GIVES HIM FORCES TO MEET THIS DIFFICULT TASK ... SO BE IT
Our goal is to reach ten million Hail Mary's for Pope Francis. This campaign started today. Send this message to all Catholic friends or even to those who like him.
We pray for the Holy Father that the heavenly Mother intercedes for him and protects him in his ministry:

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Do not forget to forward this message to many friends.
We want to reach ten million Hail Marys

Pray for Sin

I went to a Confirmation, this weekend.  There was a seminarian accompanying the bishop.  I talked with him for awhile.  His name is Sinisa Ubiparipovic.  Everyone calls him, Sin.  He will be ordained, next year.

Imagine, he will be addressed as Father Sin.  Isn't that funny?

Sin requests prayers.

This is the only time I'll ever ask you to pray for sin.

Urgent Prayer Request

The following was on Facebook. You can feel the desperate urgency in the friar's words.
Fr. Legge wrote this morning: Here's my quick translation of the email message sent early this morning by Fr. Najeeb.
Bad news. I write you in a situation of violence in Mosul that is very critical and even apocalyptic. Most of the inhabitants of the city have already abandoned their houses and fled into the villages and are sleeping in the open without anything to eat or drink. Many thousands of armed men from the Islamic Groups of Da’ash have attacked the city of Mosul for the last two days. They have assassinated adults and children. The bodies have been left in the streets and in the houses by the hundreds, without pity. The regular forces and the army have also fled the city, along with the governor. In the mosques, they cry “Allah Akbar, long live the Islamic State.” Qaraqosh is overflowing with refugees of all kinds, without food or lodging. The check points and the Kurdish forces are blocking innumerable refugees from entering Kurdistan. What we are living and what we have seen over the last two days is horrible and catastrophic. The priory of Mar Behnam and other churches fell into the hands of the rebels this morning. . . . and now they have come here and entered Qaraqosh five minutes ago, and we are now surrounded and threatened with death . . . . pray for us. I’m sorry that I can’t continue . . . They are not far from our convent . . . .
Don’t reply. . . .
Fr. Najeeb Michaeel o.p
"Fr. Najeeb is an Iraqi Dominican who lived with me in Fribourg last year. He works on some unique manuscripts that the Dominicans have in their priories in Iraq. He is a very kind, generous, exemplary Dominican."

Prayer Intentions

The need is great.  I have so many friends who are sick and of need of prayers:

Recent graduates looking for jobs.  A relative looking for a home.  Our new priests certainly need prayers.  All victims of the recent natural disasters.

And don’t forget the Pope’s general prayer intention for June, “That a culture of dialogue, listening, and mutual respect may prevail among peoples.”

Worldwide Call to Prayer

Pope Francis I has put out a call for everyone in the world to pray for China, tomorrow, the Memorial of Our Lady Help of Christians.  Pope Francis made this plea, last Friday in his general audience.  Mary, Help of Christians is venerated with great devotion at the Shrine of Sheshan in Shanghai, China.  He said: "I urge all Catholics around the world to join in prayer with our brothers and sisters who are in China, who died and rose again; to be faithful to His Church and the Successor of Peter and to live everyday life in service to their country and their fellow citizens in a way that is consistent with the faith they profess."

Our Lady of Sheshan holding her son is a symbol of love's blessing towards all of humanity.

Let us ask Our Lady to help us all to bring our testimony of Christian love to fruition.

Our Lady of China, Mother of Asia, pray for us now and forever.  Amen.

Prayer Request

I need your prayers.  I'm suffering.  I have an infected root canal.  So I'm on Clindamycin, Percocet, and Motrin.  If the pain doesn't kill me, the percocet will.  I'm dizzy, and nauseous.

I'm going to bed.  God send down your healing powers.  Let me wake up fine.

Praying with the Communion of Saints

Two new (not so) people dropped by Our Lady of Hope Prayer Group.  They're not one of the regulars who always show up.  They used to be, but you know, "life happens."  Anyway, they were there.

Why?  They both had specific prayer requests.  One was requesting prayers for her brother.  The other was requesting prayers for her co-worker.  Now, you and I know, and they know, that they can pray by themselves.  So why bother to come to Prayer Group.

Because OLHPG are efficacious prayer warriors.  That's true, but that's the answer I'm looking for.  It's because together we pool our prayer resources and storm heaven with our prayers.

Catholics call this the Communion of Saints.  This means that we're all united.  These two people pray, and we add our prayers, and we request that the Blessed Virgin Mary intercede for us and continue our prayers.  We ask other saints, likewise.  I'm praying now, as I think of it.  I'm sure they are, too.

See how it works?  How's that for organized labor?

Praying at the tomb of Blessed  Pere M. Jean-Joseph Lataste,
Hence my definition of Communion of Saints: a union of prayer warriors, living and deceased, praying for a common purpose.

Dominican Litany of Saints

You thought the Litany was long before.  Blessed Lataste has been added.  He's the friar in the middle of this picture. Sorry it's so poor.  It's a picture of a holy card, one of my "cloistered brothers" drew it.  That's Pere Lataste in the center.  Mother Henri Dominique is last, in the second row, right.  An anonymous "cloistered brother" is in front--the only one not in habit.  He's just wearing the Dominican Laity's scapular for those who are Final Promised.  Oh! There's one other not in habit.  First row right, the last  lady, is in 1860 French prison garb, representing a prisoner from Cadillac prison.  To understand this cast of holy people, please read the Spring edition of eLumenate.

As I was saying, the Litany of Dominican saints is not an ejaculatory prayer.   It's very long.   It's not said often.  One reason is because it's so long, but also, it's potent.  It's a powerful prayer.  Over the weekend, the President of the LFSD was requested by our Provincial, to start praying the Litany.  It seems that Archbishop Augustine Di Noia, O.P. has requested that the Dominican Litany be prayed for the success of full reconciliation of the Society of Pius X with Rome.  Archbishop Di Noia has been made vice president of the commission charged with bringing the SSPX back home.

The last time the Dominican Litany was prayed by the Dominican Family was to pray for a satisfactory solution to bring back those Anglicans who wish to come back to Rome.  Archbishop DiNoia helped set up the personal ordinoriates to accommodate all those Anglicans.  The Dominican Litany was successful then, and will be again.  You are welcome to join us.

Litany of Dominican Saints and Blesseds

Prayers of the Faithful

For some reason, the Prayer of the Faithful at this morning's Mass were "right on."   I think the priest was sick and tired of the same people requesting prayers for the "same ole, same ole, so he ask for those usual prayers in his prayers.  For some reason, I listened and registered every single prayer request and realized that he was asking for prayers that others usually do.  Mmmmm. I wondered if they were paying attention, or would they still request the "same ole" prayers.

They must have been listening, too.

Because different prayers were requested.  I was surprised.  I think Father was too.

The usual, were prayers for the unborn, for an end to abortion, for our children, for the sick, for the dying, for those in the armed services, for our political leaders, etc.

Some of today's new ones:

For today's Christian martyrs, for those living in violence, for all those in prisons and bondage of all kinds, for the safety of all travelers, for all parents, for those who suffer doubt, those that are afraid, those who feel unloved, etc.

I think Father was moved.  I certainly was.

Memorare for May

Bishop Finn from the Diocese of Kansas City ~ St. Joseph, is urging people to pray the Memorare for the month of May, for his special intentions.

Why not?  The Memorare is my St. Mary's Women's Club special prayer.  I can add this one prayer after my daily Rosary.  On this site is a form to be filled out, if you want to join those praying.  The Bishop is aiming for a million Memorares.

The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

Say a Prayer for Father Thomas.

A friend of mine has requested prayers for a priest who is in a terrible predicament.  Read the letter and please pray.

One of my mother-in-law's friends is an Indian (east Indian, not American Indian) priest, Fr. Thomas.  She met him when he was in Chicago studying at Loyola, and then he was the rector of a minor seminary until last year. Over Holy Week, one of his students committed suicide.  The father of the student claimed that the seminary authorities had forced him to convert, which is illegal under Indian law, and Fr. Thomas was arrested for a couple of weeks.  Currently, he has been released, but he is still in need of prayers as his bishop has placed him in "exile" at an assignment in a small village with something like six Catholics because the case is still pending.  Apparently the diocesan lawyer doesn't like him, so there is little-to-nothing being done about the case, even though the father has since admitted that he was bribed by the fundamentalist anti-Christian groups to lie about the fact that his son had been baptized since infancy (even though they were registered officially as Hindu, because there is more state-welfare available if you are Hindu).  My mother-in-law went to visit Fr. Thomas last month, and she ...  wrote about visiting him in jail.  Maybe you can ask your Chapter to remember Fr. Thomas in their prayers.

And I'm asking everyone to pray for the predicament Father Thomas is in.  Let us pray for trust in the Lord.

Call to Prayer

Below is a request for the Lay Dominicans in the Eastern Province to pray the powerful Dominican Litany of Saints, as a novena from Oct. 19-24. The request is a response to the violence that surrounds St. Dominic's in Youngstown, OH.  Last year a couple was shot leaving the church.  Recently, a family was shot, as they exited the church.  The neighborhood surrounding St. Dominic's is crime ridden.  A safety-summit has been called for all concerned to brain storm ideas as how the end the violence.  Please keep the success of the summit meeting in your prayers.  Everyone needs to pray.  If you are a Dominican, then you know the effectiveness of the Dominican Litany of Saints.  Ora pro nobis.

My dear Brothers and Sisters,
I'd like to thank all of you for your continued prayers for the recent victims of violent crime and the Dominican parish community of St. Dominic's in Youngstown, OH.    I have spoken with Fr. Maturi (Prior Pastor) and he is very grateful for all of your prayers.   Jackie Repchik (the wife/survivor of the most recent ambush) had to have her one leg amputated, had developed an infection, ended up in Intensive Care, but is doing better.  Please remember in your prayers the repose of the soul of Jackie's husband, Thomas Repchik, who was murdered in the ambush.
Fr. Maturi has been very pro-active in his efforts to stop the crime and violence surrounding the parish and Youngstown, as a whole.  His efforts have been rewarded with government, law-enforcement, and community representatives agreeing to meet for a "SAFETY SUMMIT".  This Summit will occur on Wednesday, October 27th.  Here's what I'd like everyone (especially the Lay members) to do:
Starting TUESDAY, OCT. 19th:  Join in praying a novena of the "Litany of Dominican Saints and Blesseds"  (attached following this letter) for the following intentions:
1.    For the success of the "Safety Summit" that concrete resolutions will be implemented in a timely (prompt) manner
        without impediments of potential political posturing;
2.    For the tearing down of all blighted houses within the community, especially those that lend themselves to criminal
        activities and havens for the lawless;
3.    For all elected officials, law enforcement officials and officers, the community of Youngstown, those victimized
by the violence, the parishioners of St. Dominic's, and last, but certainly not least, our friars who serve this special Faith-       community.
I thank you in advance for your cooperation and collaboration in this effort.   I have always been humbled with the efficacy of your prayers.   May God continue to bless and protect you through the intercessions of Our Lady, St. Joseph, and all the Dominican Saints and Blesseds!
Please share this "Call to Prayer" with those who do not receive the e-Lumen.

Prayer Request

"Please mark your calendar for Tuesday, June 29, 2010," says an e-mail alert. "At 11:11 a.m. Pacific Time, 12:11 p.m. Mountain Time, 1:11 p.m. Central Time, 2:11 p.m. Eastern Time, we would like everyone to stop what they are doing and spend a few minutes praying for the crisis in the Gulf of Mexico region. Man has for too long tried to rely on his own feeble knowledge to fix disasters in the world. It is time for man to ask God to intervene in this disaster. Why on earth has the human race decided that it is the only one that can do anything? God has and always is in control at all times. At this time we are in a crisis that is beyond our technological capabilities, we need to be humble and pray. As a stiff-necked people we are trying to go beyond what we can do and we need to ask God for His pardon and help. So, on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, we need to stop for a few minutes, humble ourselves before our Creator, ask His forgiveness and ask Him to help end the crisis in the Gulf. The 29th is the feast day of St. Peter and St. Paul, apostles to our Lord Jesus. It doesn't matter what version of Christianity you are, the differences need to be set aside, and we all need to pray as the Christians that we are. Please send this to as many people as you know that will pray on this day. God hears all our prayers and maybe if we set aside our pride for a while, He will be happy with us as humans doing His will and not ours. God bless you all."

Not Ship-Shape

The Woman in Cabin 10 b y Ruth Ware is called a psychological thriller.  To me it means that the protagonist, Lauren, will drive you crazy...
