Cardinal Schönborn warns of 'Islamic conquest' of Europe

Cardinal Schönborn warns of 'Islamic conquest' of Europe: Vienna, Austria, Sep 14, 2016 CNA/EWTN News.- Cardinal Christoph Schönborn has warned that Europe risks forfeiting its “Christian inheritance”.

You have to remember that Cardinal Schönborn isn't American and therefore isn't used to a country proud of its immigrant heritage.  In fact, it's proud of repelling the "foreigners."

Old Ladies and the Rosary

Did you read Zenit today?  Cardinal Schonborn was interviewed.  He is often in the news, both as a confident of the Pope, and as a much beleaguered prelate with many dissident priests.  He is as solid a traditionalist as the catechism he edited.  Yet he is a believer and supporter of Medjugorje.  He is very, and maybe too pastoral, in that he hasn't disciplined any of the dissident priests who want women priests, and to get married, besides other things.  He may be Pope some day.

But now he has another accolade to add to his list.  He is now in my heart because he said, " And whoever scorns the old ladies who pray (the Rosary)  has understood nothing of the Gospel."

Ah, words to warm the cockles of this simple old lady's heart, while she fingers her beads while praying the Rosary.

Let's pray for Cardinal Schoenborn

If the name Christoph Schoenborn sounds familiar, it should; he is the editor of the Catechism.   He's as conservative and traditional as they come.  He and Pope Benedict are personal friends and fellow theologians.  Oh, I know that once in awhile on slow news days, a sound bite of Schoenborn being at a puppet Mass, or something else considered "liberal", will be blared hither and yon, across the media.  But that's not him.  He never knows what he's in for when he makes a pastoral visit.  He's also a gentleman and too kind and pastoral, to throw a "hissy fit" when he's thrown into unconventional circumstances, e.i., puppet Masses.

Right now, he's in a position that he doesn't relish.  He has to lay down the law to a number of priests in his country, Austria, who want to be married, OK giving Communion to the divorced and remarried Catholics, and also give Communion to Protestants, who aren't in communion with us, who want lay preachers and administers of the sacraments...     It looks like they don't want to be Catholic, anymore.

Fine.  Go.

But they don't want to go.  They want the Catholic Church to come around to their line of thinking.  The truth of the very precepts that these priests are rebelling against are grounded in doctrine, tradition, and 2011 years of spiritual discernment.  These dissident priests will not get their way.  Cardinal Schoenborn  has no choice.

Actually, it's the dissenting priests who are choosing.  And they are not choosing the Catholic Church.

This situation cries out for our prayers.  Extra prayers are needed for Cardinal Schoenborn.  May these priests open their minds and listen.  May they see the wisdom in our Deposit of Faith and accept their Cardinal's
dialogue and pastoral decisions.

Using The Power of the Media

I'm sick of the media.  As I've blogged before on July 30, and September 23, 25, 30, of this year, the media will say anything to sell its product.  My first inclination is to throw my apron off and retreat to the Cape and vegetate.  But on second thought, as attractive as that may be, I feel called to do battle.  I may still head down to the Cape, but not to retreat.  I'm fighting the modern, cultural spin, to what is the Truth.  I'll do my part to expose the misconstruction and throw light on what is true.

Cardinal Christoph Schonborn
I wrote this last Nov, upon hearing that the Pope was condoning condoms...NOT!  Anyway, I just read Fr. Tim's blog, The Hermeneutic of Continuity, where the media turned the minds of the powers that be.

What am I talking about?

In the past, Vienna had these sacrilegious Masses.  Writing to Cardinal Schonborn had no appreciable affect.  Neither did writing to the Vatican.  Petitions didn't work, either.  It was Gloria TV blasting video clips on the internet that got everyone's attention.  That worked.  As Father Tim said, " If a picture is worth a thousand words, a YouTube (or Gloria TV) is worth a lot more. You could write several thousand words to Bishops and Vatican dicasteries and get nowhere, but a short video clip buzzing around the Catholic blogosphere can be an economic way for the laity to exercise their right under canon law to manifest their concerns to their pastors."fb

Praying Priests

Praying Priests is almost an oxymoron. Have I got your attention? Yeah, I'm a little tongue in cheek here, but upon reading Zenit, this morning, I was reading something Cardinal Christoph Schonborn said, when he was giving a retreat to priests in Ars, France.

"In Vorarlberg [Austria], in the afternoon, there was always a light in the church: It was the parish priest who was praying there. That remained engraved in my memory."

It has always been a pet peeve of mine that I never, alright not never--only twice in my life, have I ever seen a priest pray. I'm talking about outside of Mass. One was a priest who use to kneel in the church, by himself, and pray his Office. The other was a priest who obviously was praying his Rosary while he walked inside his Church.

Why wouldn't a priest want people to see him pray?

Beats me.

Cardinal Schonborn

Don't people love to jump on those in authority? I'm referring to the criticism Christoph Card. Schonborn, the Archbishop of Vienna is receiving for the youth Mass he celebrated, the beginning of this week. I would think people would give a person a break, but no they're so easy to damn. Since I've been following Card. Schonborn, (I'm rooting for him to be the next Pope.) is that he wasn't aware that this was going to happen. This was not his Cathedral. He was invited to celebrate this youth Mass. He probably arrived and was surprised. Also, the video producers might have had an agenda that they're promoting and just looking for liturgical craziness. Who knows? But give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

Human Dignity

It just dawned on me that God created me for Himself.  In Genesis 1: 1-31, we see God made everything for mankind.  I'm in awe to reali...
