Salesmanship

Tonight, I went out to order pizza.  I went to the store and ordered it.  The price came to over $20.  I was particular ordering two medium to get the special deal of buying one pizza and getting the other half off.  The young man taking my order said that deal is only for on-line customers.  I said, "I'll go in my car and order it.  Isn't that ridiculous that I'm here and I can't get the deal, but if I take three steps outside and order it on my phone, I get the deal? Where's your manager?"  He apologized and said he couldn't help me, it's an online deal.

So I took three steps out and ordered it on my phone.  Then I went inside and asked, "Did you get my order?"

Ridiculous.

The first young man who I spoke to, went and hid behind some boxes.  Another young man came and asked, "What did you order?"  I told him that I just order two medium pizza's on my phone.  We looked at their screen.  It was up high.  It looked like a TV screen with orders on it.  My order wasn't on it.  We both looked at my phone and I didn't hit "send."  Then it appeared on the screen.  He said that it would be ready in 8 minutes and I could wait in my car.

I did.

He brought it out to me as I waited in my car.

I tipped him very generously.

The first kid missed out.

What lesson did he learn?  I hope he learned to be more helpful.  Why didn't he suggest ordering it on my phone and helping me to do it?  Did he think it reasonable that someone had to take three steps outside to order the pizza?

What lesson did I learn?  Order on-line.

"Cloistered" Pizza

One of my "cloistered brothers" makes the most delicious pizza.  Here is his recipe.  It makes about 6 large pizzas.

Crust

1 -  2-pound bag of flour
1/2  of a box of pancake mix
4 teaspoons of oregano
3 ounces of sugar
2 teaspoons of garlic powder
2 teaspoons of onion powder
2 teaspoons of black pepper

Mix and let it sit for about six hours.  This makes it easier to roll out and handle.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Prepare your toppings:

Toppings

3 jars of any pizza sauce
2 tubs of your favorite cheese
5 bars of provolone cheese
2-3 whole onions
2-3 green peppers
pepperoni and hard salami

Prepare the crust: roll into pan size, handle and stretch to fit the pan.  Butter the pans well.  Butter the bottom of the crust, too.  Butter the top of the crust.  Bake the crust for 10 minutes.  Butter the top and bottom, again. Add your toppings.  Bake for about 10-12 minutes.  Enjoy.

Idjit

The pizza police are after me.

I was planning on visiting a friend for lunch. And I was bringing pizza. Before I left, I called the pizza place and ordered.

When I arrived at the pizza place, I told the man that I had called in an order. He said what was it. I told him and he said "That'll take 15 minutes."

Mmmm, I thought. On the phone he said 10 minutes. The place must get stiffed a lot so they don't really take orders on the phone unless they know you. They wait until you get here and start to make it.

While waiting, I looked around for a menu. The one I used to order had coupons in it that expired 12/30/08. I did find the menus, but guess what. The name on the menu was different from the name on the one at home. :-/

I was at the wrong pizza place. :-/

Oh well.

Meanwhile the pizza joint I had ordered from, telehoned hubby and asked where I was. Dick said I was on my way.

Half an hour later they called again. Dick went and got the pizza.

Guess what we're having for supper.

Idjit! :-/

AI = Seeds

Can you explain how a seed germinates?  I don't mean adding water and sunlight.  I mean what is inside the seed that makes it start to ...
