This COVID-19 pandemic is a trying time. I have one friend is being driven crazy with worry. She worries that it's the end times and her children haven't turned to God. She did her best in bringing them up in the faith. But they don't go to church or ever think of God. Her grandchildren were never baptized.
After days of talking to her on the phone--for hours, you know what struck a chord with her? I told her that her feelings of despair and anxious worry were the work of the devil. God only gives us good things. If she feels bad about herself, that's the work of the devil.
That worked. She never considered that before. She thought God was making her feel bad about herself as punishment.
Philippians 4:6-7 says:
“Don't be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
