True Justice

It often strikes me odd that when victims of crimes see the perpetrator sent to prison, they say they feel better that justice was served.  I find that very shallow.  Justice, here on earth is never served.  Murdered victims aren't brought back to life. Harm is never righted.  Life isn't fair.  Justice is never just.

This morning, I was reading a letter from Saint Cyprian, the bishop and martyr.  "You know that from the beginning of the world it was so; justice is here oppressed in its conflict with the world, for at the very outset Abel the just is killed, and after him the just, and those sent as prophets and apostles.  The Lord himself is an example of all this in his own person."

What people think of justice is revenge.  There's no comparison.  Justice is not gained here in this life.  God is the true judge.
