I used to be one of those people who bristled when people wished me "Happy Holidays." If it were Hanukah, I would respond with "Happy Hanukah!" -- likewise, if it were Christmas.
I felt that the people using the greeting, "Happy Holidays," were taking the Christ out of Christmas. But over the years, I can see that they weren't doing that. They didn't know any better. They thought they were being clever in covering all the bases since they didn't know what religious season you were celebrating.
So, I'm changing my attitude and accepting the fact that they mean well.
