Day Twenty-Five Consecration to Mary for the 21st Century/A Lenten Journey

Day Twenty-Five Consecration to Mary for the 21st Century/A Lenten Journey

                                                                     Day Twenty-Five

Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Prayers for this week, Days 23-28 in Lent:

Begin each day with "My Mother, my hope."

First Meditation

Meditate upon this picture.  What do you think is going on?

Second Meditation

The picture tells the story of St. Catherine Laboure and Our Lady's appearing to her.  Sister Catherine was a religious sister of the Daughters of Charity.  Our Lady appeared to her numerous times and asked that a medal be struck in her honor.  This medal is known as the Miraculous Medal.  Mary said many graces will be bestowed on those who wear the medal.  She taught Catherine the prayer, "O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee."

Third Meditation

St. Catherine of Laboure's body is incorrupt.  Meditate upon that fact.

End the day with the prayer, "We fly to thy patronage, O Holy Mother of God; despice not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Amen"

End your day with an examination of conscience--even in bed.

What good did I do today?
Where did I fail?
How can I do better?
