Day Eleven Consecration to Mary for the 21st Century/A Lenten Journey

Day Eleven Consecration to Mary for the 21st Century/A Lenten Journey

                                                                        Day Eleven

Monday of the Second Week of Lent

Prayers for this week, Days11-17 in Lent:

Begin each day with "Lord, I wish to consecrate myself to You, through Your Mother, Mary."

First Meditation

Put in for some time off at work, on Good Friday, for three hours, between noon to three.  Besides planning ahead (as in asking for time off), think back on how your previous week went.  Did you slack off?  What can you do to prevent that?  Make up your own quick prayer asking Mary to ask her Son to give you the graces necessary to complete this consecration and have a good Lent.

Second Meditation

Pray this prayer, known as the Fatima prayer (Mary asked the visionaries at Fatima to use this prayer after each decade of her rosary.).  "Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of your mercy.  Amen."

Third Meditation

Where is your quiet place--where you spend quiet time?  Wherever that is, make it your prayer space.  If you are so busy that the only quiet time you have is your car--so be it.  Consciously plan to dedicate time to prayer: contemplation, rosary, reading, resting in the peace of God.  Ask Mary, your guardian angel, your patron saint, your deceased loved ones, to remind you every day to use your prayer space.  Do this as faithfully as you take medicine, for it is medicine for the well-being of your soul.

End your days this week with this: "Lord, hear Your Mother's prayers."

End your day with an examination of conscience--even in bed.
Mother of God, pray for me.
What good did I do today?
Where did I fail?
How can I do better?
