Prayer for Peace

Over the past week we have seen the political situation in Egypt escalate dramatically, with hundreds of people killed in violent clashes in just a few days. World leaders, including Pope Francis, have condemned the violence, and are joining the call for peace in the nation. Please continue to pray for peace in Egypt - and don’t forget to keep the situation in Syria also in your prayers, as violence continues and spreads throughout the region.

Here is a Prayer for Peace, written by Pope John Paul II. Tweet it, Facebook it, email it to your friends... and let’s send a message of peace around the world.

Lord Jesus Christ, who are called the Prince of Peace, who are yourself our peace and reconciliation, who so often said, "Peace to you," grant us peace.

Make all men and women witnesses of truth, justice, and brotherly love.

Banish from their hearts whatever might endanger peace.

Enlighten our rulers that they may guarantee and defend the great gift of peace.

May all peoples on the earth become as brothers and sisters.

May longed-for peace blossom forth and reign always over us all.

Amen

                                                                     My Prayer

Beloved, You Who answer all prayers, have mercy on the cries and supplications of the people of Egypt.  Let them see their brothers with Your eyes and heart.  Protect them from the evil one.  Calm their rage and fears.   Put an end to this chaos and put Your order in place.

I ask this through the intercession of St. Catherine of Alexandria to Christ, Our Lord and Savior.
Amen.
