Swimming in God


St. Catherine of Siena teaches so many things.  For example, she helps children understand how God is everywhere.  Catherine, meditating upon her Communion, one day, thought how unworthy she was that He should come to her.  "Yes Catherine but I am worthy to come to thee."  And she pictured a fish in the sea and the sea is in the fish, so she was in God and God is with her.  It is as though we are swimming in God, isn't it?

A child then asks, "If God is everywhere, is He in hell?"

Yikes!  Well I guess so; He is everywhere.

St Catherine explains "It is as though we are swimming in God--that is how He is everywhere."
